Chicago Worldcon Community Fund Application

All applications and awards will be kept confidential. Only members of our Chicago Worldcon Community Fund committee will have access to any information you provide in the course of your application. 

You will receive a notification that your application has been received within 72 hours of submission. Decisions regarding awards will be made in waves with the first set of decisions being made by January 31, 2022. The next set of awards will be made by April 30, 2022 with awards being finalized on a rolling basis subsequently. 

All awards can be spent to help defray costs for attending Chicon 8 in the manner each applicant chooses. We will not be requesting receipts or other types of proof that money has been spent in a particular way. We also will not be paying for costs on behalf of applicants. Awards will be cash (sent either electronically or by check) to all approved applicants. 

Non-white fans or program participants: An individual is eligible to apply for an award from this category if they identify as non-white. Individuals applying for an award from this category can reside anywhere in the world and may be any age.

LGBTQIA+ fans or program participants: An individual is eligible to apply for an award from this category if they identify as LGBTQIA+. Individuals applying for an award from this category can reside anywhere in the world and may be any age.

Chicago area fans of limited means: An individual is eligible to apply for an award from this category if they live within a 120 mile radius of the city of Chicago. Individuals applying for an award from this category may be any age or demographic.

The application form will be available in August 2021.
