Welcome to Star Chart, the Chicon 8 newsletter!

With the exception of the final Ad Astra post and possible corrections, all submissions to the Star Chart newsletter are now closed. Thank you for submitting content to the newsletter team and for helping make Chicon 8 a wonderful experience!

On the last day of Chicon 8, September 5th, 2022, the convention had 3,574 warm bodies on site. Grand total membership was 6,500, more than Chicon 7!

2022 Hugo Award Ceremony: Winners and Finalists

Masquerade! Astounding Faces on Parade!

The Chicon 8 Masquerade was held on September 3rd, 2022 in the Grand Ballroom of the Chicago Hyatt Regency. As with previous Worldcons, the show began with a presentation of the entries, accompanied by wonderfully entertaining introductions by master of ceremonies, William Dezoma. The presentation was followed by an amazing performance by local Chicago group Raks Geek, who astounded the audience with skillful light-spinning, spooky contortion acts, and graceful wookies. Fifth Third “Bike the Drive”

Fifth Third Bike the Drive is a fundraiser event for the Active Transportation Alliance, a non-profit advocacy organization working to improve conditions for walking, biking, and public transit throughout Chicagoland. This event is from 6:30 am – 10:30 am with a Festival from 8 am – 12:30 pm. The main location is Butler Field in Grant Park.
