Jocelyn Turner

Jocelyn Turner

When the microbes drove JSL Turner into the basement, she bought flour and picked up her paintbrushes. She made deep dish pizza and chocolate chip cookies. She relearned how to splash paint across watercolor paper, while taking occasional collage breaks. JSL Turner loved the basement. She rediscovered her passion for quinacridone gold, phthalo blue and the often-underestimated neutral tint. With West Coast friends on Zoom, she explored papers, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, sponges, watercolor markers, and gouache. She studied many paintings. She still has no idea why anyone would paint a vase when they could paint a dinosaur or a sky, especially an impossible sky, but practical reality often confuses her. Rod Serling once described science fiction as the improbable made possible; she observes that art can also make the improbable possible.

She publishes two blogs, eduhonesty.com and biographyjar.com. The first is almost entirely about education. The second is more biographical with zombies lurking in the distant past.
